Chinese Tamarind

Chinese tamarind also known as tamarindasa or Spanish tamarind is a profusely branched evergreen shrub, or small tree growing from 2 – 15 metres tall. When the tree blossoms, flowers are greenish-yellow, yellow or cream. The tree bares small orange or brown fruits that are spherical, very smooth and shiny. Fruits are edible and greenish when immature, changing to yellowish-brown when ripe with a sweet acidic taste. Chinese tamarind prefers full sunlight and well drained soils but can withstand occasional droughts.The fruit harvest is between March and July.
