Pond Apple

Product Details

The pond apple tree, also called monkey apple tree, grows best in well-drained, fertile soil and full sunlight. It should be irrigated on a daily basis until it reaches a mature stage. This small to medium-sized tree has a rounded, spreading crown and short, buttressed trunk. It can grow 4 – 9 metres high and 4 – 6 metres wide. It can produce fruit after 3 years planted. The tree produces large spherical to elongated, green fruits that turn to yellow or orange when ripe. The fruit has a smooth skin and yellowish-orange flesh that carries a sweet aroma. Ripe fruits are edible and can be used to make jams, jellies and wines.
